I was too exhausted to post anything yesterday. It took us from 8am to 6 pm to dolly all of our artwork a great distance and set up our 2 booths. This had to be the hardest show we have ever had to set up. Our booth is on a baseball field in the park and no one is allowed to drive their vehicles next to their booth. You cannot imagine how difficult it was.
Today, however, is a new day and the stress and strain of yesterday has passed. The crowds started out brisk in the morning but slowed way down by the afternoon. They seemed much lower than in the past years. This is the fourth time we have exhibited in Naples Invitational Art Festival and the crowds come differently every year. We love this show. It has grown to over 240 exhibitors and is held in beautiful Fleishmann Park. Sales were somewhat slow but I did sell one very large painting with 3 children...it had two girls and a boy and it will be shipped to a visitor from Wisconsin. She is going to gift it to her husband for Valentine's Day. That's the only way to figure out how to explain a $1250 purchase while he was playing golf...quick thinking, right??
I also sold some medium and smaller mostly figurative works. The 5x7's I am picturing in this blog sold for $65. I never bring anything this small to the shows but I had been painting them the past couple of weeks in the hotel room in Florida so I thought I would get a reaction. It was quite favorable.
Tomorrow is takedown at the show. We are expecting early morning rain but we hope it will clear up before the show opens at 10am. We have requested a couple of young, strong, energetic students to help us dolly our artwork to the truck. It would be a great help and we will be happy to generously pay them for this backbreaking work... Again, the glamorous life of an artist... Monday morning we will be heading back to Texas so I am not sure whether I will blog again until we return on Wednesday. Maybe if we stop early for the evening, I will post a couple of items. In the meantime, sweet dreams, God's richest blessings to you and bye.
